Dresses

My favourite dress

January 31, 2011

I made this dress for Isabella for Christmas from one of my favourite materials.  With the Aussie/American exchange rate being so good at the moment, I ordered a heap of fabric from Hawthorne Threads and Fabricworm. Even with postage, fabrics averaged about $13 per metre. Bargain!

Made pattern up - very simple just a rectangle of fabric with seam on one side. Ten seams of shirring elastic up top, straps, pockets and cream ric rac detail on hem and pockets.

Hammer pants

Here are some pants I made for Isabella. Super comfy and pretty funky. Made from cotton jersey and ribbing. Pattern from Ottobre magazine 1/2011. I think I want some in my size!

A makeover

January 28, 2011

My blog is three days old and has already had a makeover! Decided I wanted to incorporate sewing into my blog title (even though I love the horse too). Hope this title will give readers more of an idea of what my blog will be about. Wasting too much time on here already though.... but it is fun!

Dolls

Dolls

January 27, 2011

My most recent fun sewing projects have been making these wool dolls for my two girls. The pattern comes from hop skip jump and fabrics for dresses are from hawthorne threads.  Wool flannel for dolls was hard to source.  Found some from Geelong blanket company.  Very fun to make and hopefully the dolls will be around for years to come.

Hair and cheeks are made from suede
Blonde dolly is for blonde Isabella, while the brunette is for little Juliette!
