Debbie's birthday dress TUNIC LENGTH ADJUSTMENT
August 11, 2013
I have had a lovely week viewing five gorgeous dresses kindly made up by blogging friends to showcase my pattern. Marta from doguincho made both views of the pattern in blue gingham for her gorgeous girls (here), Erin from hungie gungie made her gorgeous Coco view 2 from blue chambray with a sweet apple print collar and lace detailing down the front of the dress (here). Monica from Adirondack Inspired made an awesome number (here) with home décor fabric matched with solid denim coloured blue and added piping (gotta love some piping). Ana Sofia from S is for sewing made a pretty blue floral version with eyelet lace trim (here) and An from StraightGrain tried out 'cording' on a plain white version of Debbie's birthday dress (here).
This coming week, Sanae Ishida, Elegance and Elephants, Sew Delicious, La Inglesita and Girl like the sea will be sharing their creations...can't wait!
Today I wanted to share a simple adjustment I made to my pattern to create a tunic length top - perfect for layering or wearing on it's own with a sweet pair of jeans or a skirt.
Here Emily models a vintage sheet fashioned into a View 1 tunic top with vintage buttons and lace/ribbon trim. The lining is called "Comma" by Brigitte Heitland for Zenchic for Moda (whoa, that's a long title!!).
I couldn't find matching buttons, so decided mismatched looked even better!
The tunic length is designed to sit just below the hips. To convert to tunic length, simply cut your fabric following the existing slight curve of the hemline following these specifications:
