A mara dress for Emily
June 19, 2014
Emily only had one long sleeved dress in her wardrobe, and with the weather getting a lot colder here, I decided to make her another. I made her a mara dress by lovely Marte from Compagnie-M.
This pattern is enjoyable to put together - especially the yoke. I have made two other Maras here and here. The fabrics I used are from Spotlight. The floral reminds me of something my Grandma would have owned. The yoke is a fine little spot that is really pretty. I used royal blue binding and piping and three vintage cream buttons. This time I gathered the dress under the yoke instead of doing the pintucks - just for something different.
I chased Emily around the garden but most of my photos were of the back of her head as she ran away from me or of her hiding behind this pole!! Emily is so crazy cute and funny. She makes everyone laugh with her bubbly personality and chatter (and her singing). I love her so much.
I have started another long sleeved dress for her that I hope to finish soon and post. You can buy the Mara pattern from Marte's shop as well as other lovely patterns she has made. The Mara is actually a blouse pattern with directions only for altering the pattern to create a dress. It is very easy to do though. That's all for now:)

Love that floral - it's very vintage! Aww Emily is the cutest, she is growing so fast! x
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome - and also incredibly coincidental. I have just tonight used up my very last bit of that linen floral! Mine turned into a washi, geranium and some cool gift wrap. I also have that gold dotted fabric AND I just got the Mara pattern this week to sew up on the weekend :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration.
This is really a very cute Mara dress!! I also love the vintage floral fabrics :-)
