Another Miss Polly dress

Today I am sharing the capped sleeve version of my (work in progress) Miss Polly pattern.  This dress took me a little while to finish, because when you have to photograph every step- the whole sewing process takes about three times as long as it other wise would, so I was glad to get this dress finished.


The capped sleeve version does not include the button flaps, since the piped detail on the sleeves gives enough interest.  



I used a gorgeous orange floral called Dahlia in coral by Joel Dewberry  for the main part of the dress which was sponsored by the lovely Hawthorne Threads. Dahlia comes in four other colourways (left to right): dahlia in maize, dahlia in forest, dahlia in honey and dahlia in lavendar. These prints come in quilting weight cotton, rayon and sateen, so check the listing if you plan on buying some:)

     


I paired it with some light sage green I picked up at my local fabric store and I made some apricot pink binding to match. 



I have been feeling slightly guilty having so many dresses for my girls, so this week I gave five dresses that are too small for Juliette to a good friend for her daughter, which will make their way back to Emily next year some time.


I am finishing off the three quarter sleeve version of this dress (made for instruction purposes) and then I can get a move on with compiling the instructions.
