KAWAII MOIANO COAT AND GIVEAWAY!

July 04, 2017

Today I am sharing with you a new coat I made for Emily from some amazing cotton canvas fabric sponsored by Kawaii Fabrics. I was really happy to be contacted by Kawaii Fabrics about a month ago asking if I would like to try some of their fabric....well, yes!! This was quite the coincidence since I had not long before begun working on my new pattern which was made from this fabric  (but in the grey colourway...currently unavailable) which I purchased here in Australia at Spotlight...I was searching its availability online to try to find inspiration for a good name for said pattern, when I found it was also available from Kawaii.  So when I was contacted by Maggie from Kawaii soon after, I think it was meant to be!

CLOUD 9 GIVEAWAY

March 31, 2017

So last week after releasing the free Dulcie dress pattern, I also promised that for the next few Fridays there would be some sewing goodness and surprises happening here on the blog.  I hoped to have my new sewpony pattern shop up and running today, but it is not quite ready. So instead, I thought I would run a giveaway!  I made this Dulcie dress a few weeks back, and for those who have sewn up the pattern, you will recognise the pretty fabric I used for the photographic instructions.  This particular dress was made with the first draft of the pattern, so the sleeves are too tight. In the finished pattern, they are a lot looser and don't pinch under the arms like they do in the photo below.

Debbie's birthday dress

Kids' Clothes Week: Day 1 - Debbie's birthday dress and a pre-release PATTERN GIVEAWAY!!

July 16, 2013

I wasn't really planning on joining in with Kids' Clothes Week this season, since we are mid winter here in Australia, and I knew most people would be posting great summer stuff.  But, after being asked by Meg to guest post on the KCW blog, I decided to join in anyway.  The first thing I have sewed up for the week actually fits in with the Summer season.  It's another version of my upcoming digital pattern - Debbie's birthday dress.  You can see the original versions of the dress and introduction to the pattern here and here.

Read on to find out how to win one of two of my patterns before my official 'launch' next week.  The pattern is almost ready - just a few last minute tweaks...
I wanted to make up the dress in a print this time.  I found this gorgeous spotted fabric for $6 per metre at a fabric store in Melbourne and thought it was very "Debbie" style.  I also wanted to have fun with the trim and detail on the bodice. I went for cream eyelet lace with a  satin musk pink ribbon overlay and three vintage cream buttons down the centre.
I love how easy this view of my dress is to sew up.  Once I had it all cut out, I had it sewn and pressed within an hour.
The hemline sits just above the knee - not quite as short as Debbie wore hers, but I think much more wearable.
Isabella was not overly keen to stop playing to try the dress on and have her photo taken, so I promised her I would play any game she wanted for half an hour after taking them...
For some reason, Issie loves pretending she is a cat.  She donned her cat mask and had me crawling around on all fours being the Mummy cat.  She played the kitten, while Juliette was 'owner' and Emily was the puppy dog.  Love being a Mum!

Now, onto that GIVEWAWAY!!  My pattern will be ready for purchase next week.  You might see a couple of versions this week for KCW from my lovely pattern testers.  I also have a fabulous blog tour arranged for early August, where you can see some different versions of my pattern.  But for now, I am offering a FREE PATTERN to two readers.  To enter, you need to be a follower of my blog (via Google friend connect or Bloglovin' - links on my sidebar).  Simply leave a comment to let me know you would like one, and if you are a new follower, let me know you have followed sewpony.  If you do not have a blog, make sure you leave your email address if it is not connected to your profile.
The giveaway will be open until the end of Kids' Clothes Week - Which will be 12.00 midday Monday 22nd July (AEST), Sunday night for Northern Hemisphere readers.  I will draw the winners at random and post the winners later on Monday.
 Good Luck!

Lovely in linen and a giveaway winner

February 11, 2013

I have been on a bit of a roll with the sewing lately.  The clothes production will slow down a bit as I focus on my sister's flowergirls' outfits and Juliette's quilts, but I have just a couple more summery things on the agenda before then.

Here is a little linen/cotton shirt I made for Issie.  I adapted this pattern by changing the sleeve shape and adding elastic through to allow the sleeve to gather.  I also pleated the bib.

The fabric is a light navy linen cotton blend.  The bias binding is store bought.

The elastic at the back helps to keep the shirt fitting nicely and makes it easy to get on and off.

Thanks to everyone who entered my little giveaway last week.  The two winners are Justine from Justmejay and Max from Blackbird has spoken.  I hope you like your little miniature collections!  I will be in touch by email to arrange post!

More geranium dresses and a GIVEAWAY!

February 04, 2013

Here is geranium dress number 2 (pattern details and dress number 1 here) - in a cotton lawn for Juliette.  My sister began this one for her six year old daughter, but something went wrong with her sizing and she ended up with a half finished bodice that was way too small.  So lucky Juliette scored.

This is the gathered skirt version and I did the little V notch on the neckline.  Fabric from Spotlight.  It is very light and floaty.

Dress number 3 is made from some hot pink cotton that has been sitting in my cupboard for a couple of years.  My friend Inala gave me a bag of fabrics that she thought I might find a use for.  I probably wouldn't choose a pink this bright but Isabella loves it and I think it will be a good kinder dress.

I did the flutter sleeve on this dress and added cream ric rac on bodice, pocket trims and hemline.

I had to also add this beautiful photo of Issie in our lovely next door neighbours' garden...

And just in case you were wondering how our gorgeous little Emily is doing, here she is aged 11 months.  She is such a darling and I feel like I am neglecting her a bit here on the blog since she is mostly in pants  and comfy clothes as she is crawling all over the place.  She also wears a lot of the girls' hand me downs, but I promise to make her something special for her birthday!

And now for my little GIVEAWAY...

Since I had so much fun renovating the girls' dollhouse, and making all the tiny bits and pieces, I decided to share some of the little treasures that I have made or collected.  Perhaps they will begin your dollhouse collection or add to one you already have?

Collection One

Collection Two

Both collections include a miniature pom pom garland, three coat hangers, two pencils with notebook, wooden doll, perfume, suede purse and wooden love heart.

To enter just let me know (in the comments )which one you like and who it is going to be for.  Only open to followers of my blog - so if you are not a follower and would like to enter, just click on the 'follow' button on my sidebar.  Open internationally.  Giveaway closes this Sunday evening (10th Feb) at 8pm EST.  I will announce the winner the following day and get these little parcels in the post!

Good Luck!
