I love this pattern so much I have made it three times.  It is the Little Uptown Girl jacket by Make it Perfect.  I made it up in a size 1 for Emily (who is almost 14 months).  I sewed slightly narrower seams so that hopefully this will also fit her next year. 

The jacket is fully lined so takes some time to construct as you are essentially making two jackets.  It is a straightforward pattern though and very satisfying to put together.  I was lucky to score the checked wool fabric for free from the mother of a friend of a friend (it pays to tell people you sew...and love free fabric!).  I lined it with this gorgeous print I found at my local Spotlight.  It is called Woodland Walk by Belle and Boo.  I was very excited when I found it, as not only does it match perfectly, it is also so pretty and perfect for an incy, wincy little girl!

 

 

I went a bit overboard with photos, but I thought since Emily hasn't featured so much on my blog so far, that she needed some air time!

Looking out the window this afternoon in Melbourne, it is clear that winter is well and truly here!  Isabella put on this jacket a couple of weeks back and it was already too small for her.  She is growing up too fast.  I decided that the tangerine jacket looked better on Juliette so then went out hunting for some yummy wool to make the same pattern again for Issie (any excuse to buy more fabric).  

I found this beautiful mauve wool from Rathdowne Remnants and envisaged a navy spotted lining to match.  I bought the spot from Spotlight and found the two navy buttons in my button stash.  I love this pattern, although if I made it again, I would probably go for the size up from my childrens' age.  The mauve jacket is a size four pattern but I prefer a roomier fit so would probably prefer the size five.

Here is a pic of the two girls (Juliette in Issie's hand me down - this is happening frequently with Isabella's clothes and will no doubt also be the pattern for Emily's wardrobe!).

 

Since my labels did not arrive in the post yesterday, I was unable to 'launch' my little label today and my madeit store as I had hoped. This was a little disappointing, but every cloud has a silver lining...it meant that I didn't have to go hell for leather yesterday getting the final pics up and stitching the labels on everything, and it also gave me some sewing time to work on a winter jacket for Isabella.

We spent the long weekend in Anglesea at my Uncle and Aunty's holiday house which we are lucky to be able to use a few times a year. They are very generous in letting us stay and I made some cushion covers for the house recently as a little thankyou. My Aunty then gave me a 'thankyou for the thankyou' and gave me this great 'Make It Perfect' pattern. I was keen to make it but was unsure of the fabrics to use.  The Anglesea op shop came up with the goods! I picked up a piece of wool blanketing and some super sweet red and white spotted voile/cotton, for a total of $7.00 and I am so happy with how it looks! I think it will be super warm and will fit Issie this year and hopefully next too.  Then of course, Juliette will be able to wear it in a couple of years time!

As for my label, I am hoping to open the shop in the next few days and will certainly let my blog readers know!!
