NOVA

June 12, 2017

Today I am happy to be taking part in the Nova blog tour! Nova is the latest pattern released by the uber talented An from StraightGrain.  You probably already know I am a big fan of An's. Her patterns are all AMAZING and Nova doesn't disappoint!  For Emily I made the simplest version as  I was time poor and also because I love the simplicity of the single box pleat paired with the peter pan collar.

For this dress I used a beautiful botanical cotton linen blend I found at Spotlight.  The  print caught my eye right away as it reminded me of the Australian native flora. Since Emily is the only one of my girls who does not wear school uniform for most of the week, she is the lucky recipient of most of my garment sewing these days!

Nova offers many options.  Beautiful honeycomb pleats, zig zag pleats, multiple verical pleats and a simple box pleat at the front (and peter pan collar).  The pattern can be made as a dress or blouse. It can be made sleeveless, with extended capped sleeve or gathered long sleeve with cuff.  I used the lovely tie option for the back closure, but a button or invisible zip can also be used.  An's patterns are so beautifully made. Her instructions are a pleasure to read. I am only sorry my paper copy didn't arrive in time for the blog tour, but I will be happy to add it to my StraightGrain pattern collection soon.  You can purchase the pattern in PDF or paper.
