WINTER LAURE

June 21, 2017

After I saw this dress An made on Instagram, I had to sew a long sleeved Laure dress too.  I love long sleeved dresses, especially ones made from Japanese lawn!  I found this pretty navy floral lawn at Spotlight in the remnant bin for around $8 for a metre.  I bought it not knowing what I would do with it.  Then after I saw An's dress and how pretty Laure looked sewn up in liberty, I knew the lawn would be perfect.

This is the second Laure dress I have made.  You can see the first one here. I was excited to try the pussy bow because all of the versions I have seen with the bow look so sweet!  The dress came together nicely, although I had a lot of trouble easing the sleeves in for some reason, so I just added a little pleat at the sleeve top.  I think this suits the style anyway, and actually it's barely noticeable in this busy print.  The back of the dress closes with an invisible zip which stops just before the collar begins.

I got lucky with some photos of Emily this afternoon.  She is usually very difficult to photograph because she loves to pull funny faces.  Perhaps she is growing up (sniff!)...and the garden and yellow watering can came in handy as a distracting prop!

I love this dress a lot and Emily has already asked if she can wear it to kinder tomorrow!  I think I will be just a little bit sad when my girls don't want to wear dresses anymore!
