Today I am sharing two sweet tops that the girls made for themselves! We started our September holidays a week ago and I wanted to spend some time sewing a garment each with the girls.  Isabella and Juliette (aged 10 and 8) love choosing fabrics and looking at my designs and having their input.  I decided on a simple project for their first garment sewing project.  A little T-shirt.

PILLOWCASE TURNED JEUNE TOP

Today I am sharing a Jeune top I made from a thrifted pillowcase! The Jeune pattern is great for beginners and for sizes 12mo-7years, the top can be cut from a standard sized pillowcase. For this top, the outer and the lining are pillowcases.  I love the 70's vibe of the brown floral print.  I originally made this top for Juliette but when I asked her if she would wear it today, she told me she didn't like it because it was 'brown'.  Apparently brown is not a pretty colour according to her.  I tend to disagree!  Isabella happily claimed it as her own and luckily they are pretty much the same size.

JEUNE TOP HACK

Today I am sharing a Jeune top hack I made for Isabella.  A few weeks ago at Spotlight, the clearance fabric was on sale for $1 per metre...I found this gorgeous blue leafy cotton among some other bargains I picked up.  I really wanted to try adding a frill to the Jeune top sleeves and since Isabella swooned over the fabric when I brought it home, I made this top for her.

JEUNE FOR EMILY

Today I am sharing a Jeune twin set I made Emily during testing.  I live a few minutes away from Spotlight - an Australian (chain) fabric store.  Spotlight stock a lot of lovely fabrics like Cloud 9, Birch and pretty Japanese lawns. Whenever I am there, I check the remnant bin! I have found lots of treasures in there.  A couple of weeks ago I found the fabrics for this set which were around $2 per piece.  I needed to test the half collar, so I made a set for Emily.

colour blocked jeune top

Today I am sharing a colour blocked Jeune top that I made this week for Juliette using the newly released Jeune twinset pattern. I was inspired by Deborah who made a gorgeous colour blocked top during testing. To create a colour blocked Jeune top is very simple. Just choose your dissection lines, cut the traced pattern pieces then add seam allowance to the lines that you created.  I am thinking of creating a tutorial if that would be useful.  Do you also know you could make a Jeune hack and tag it on IG with #sewponyhack by the end of April to be in the running to win a little prize? Today I am sharing the second Jeune twin set I made using beautiful See you at six fabrics. I really wanted to try the fancy elastic banding that See you at six produce so ordered some along with Copper lines and Sansiviera from Maaidesign. Both are a beautifully structured cotton lawn. I LOVE See you at six fabrics..their new line has just come out too which is equally stunning.  These two fabrics pair so well together and the elastic matches perfectly with the skirt.
