I discovered Angie Burgett's IG account and blog a few months ago and have been following her keenly ever since.  She sews and kits beautiful things for her equally beautiful daughter, Joni.  Angie lives in the US and by the look of the backdrop in these photos, lives somewhere with breathtaking views! I think you know by now that I love sewing with thrifted fabrics.  I especially love pattern testing with thrifted fabrics because there is no financial risk if the pattern doesn't turn out the way I wanted. During pattern testing for the Finch dress pattern, I made this sleeveless version for Juliette from a thrifted table cloth!.  I liked the small floral print and the colours and could see it as a dress.

IKAT FINCH DRESS

Today I am sharing a Finch dress I made for Emily using some beautiful Indian Ikat cotton.  A few weeks back the lovely ladies at Fibers to fabric emailed me asking if I was interested in sewing something up in one of their fabrics.  Fibers to fabric are based in India and specialise in Ikat, batik and embroidered fabrics.  I have a soft spot for Ikat prints so was keen to try it.  The fabric is beautiful and soft and shipped in no time.  They offer free shipping to some countries too.  Currently this particularly print is sold out but there are other colourways available like this gorgeous one.

FINCH DRESS: TESTING CALL

Today I am excited to announce the details of my new pattern - the Finch dress.  The Finch dress is a relaxed fitting, feminine style dress with lovely details.  The rounded neckline is finished with bias binding and the dress back features a keyhole opening with the bias being sewn into ties to create the back closure.  The waist is drawn in with thick elastic which can be sewn all the way around or three quarters of the way around and accented with buttons at the front.  The dress can be made sleeveless and finished with bias binding or gathered sleeves can be added in three lengths.  The sleeves are drawn in at the ends with elastic.  Lightweight woven fabrics like rayon and cotton lawn are recommended. A great pattern to use all year round.  Sizes 12MO - 12Y. 


I am looking for around 24 testers to try out this design.  To apply to test, fill out the application form HERE.  Testing will begin Thursday 31 May and will run through until Saturday 9 June.  Successful applicants will be emailed on Wednesday 30 May.  Testing will take place through a private FB group.
